THE CONTENDERS RATING SCALE IN THE SPANISH PRIMERA DIVISION: Its Effectiveness at a Glance

Just Before the Season Began:

With the 2012/13 Spanish Primera Liga ended, the 2013/14 season promises to be more spellbinding with the best of the beautiful game in display by the Spanish giants. But it is pertinent to note that with the 2012/13 season started on August 18, 2012, with the help of the Contenders Rating Scale (CRS) on October 27, 2013 http://taiwokehinde-mymind.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-20122013-football-season-spanish.html I was able to predict 4 of the 5 teams to have a top 5 finish in the first tier of Spanish football.

By the Contenders Rating Scale (CRS) I mean the manner through which the selection of the teams expected to have a top 5 finish, in no particular order, in the major football leagues across Europe is made. The CRS further posits that of all 5 teams predicted, 4 would have a top 5 finish, but in some cases (especially the German bundesliga), 3 and not 4 of the 5 teams emerged was anticipated to make the cut of top 5 season finish. Simply put, the Contenders Rating Scale is a mathematical approach to predicting the top 5 placed teams at the end of the football season.

For an in-depth understanding of the CRS concept, please follow the link - http://taiwokehinde-mymind.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-20122013-football-season-contenders.html

Through the CRS, it was projected that at least 4 of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla would have a top 5 finish. It is pivotal I reiterate that this projection was made on October 27, 2012, though the season began on August 18, 2012 - http://taiwokehinde-mymind.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-20122013-football-season-spanish.html

Interestingly, with the season rounding off on Sunday, June 1, 2013, 4 of the teams projected made the cut, with the exception of Sevilla (9th place finish), being replaced by Real Sociedad who finished in 4th place.

At the end of the 2012/13 La Liga season Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Real Sociedad and Valencia rounded off the season in 1st (Champions), 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively.

Below is a tabular summary of the La Liga CRS and the final table outcome

(As earlier stressed, please note that prediction of the CSR is not in any particular order)

With this achieved, please check this blog in the last week of July for the 2013/14 LA LIGA season top 5 predictions, courtesy the Contenders Rating Scale.

The End
